A striking addition to the South Bank skyline, 240 Blackfriars Road provides over 20,500 sqm of office space over 20 storeys, with a small amount of residential accommodation next door.
In 2010, this building was the first major project for which, as the primary sustainability consultant, I managed all aspects of the sustainability brief.
Thermal Modelling was required to provide input into the façade design, an Energy Strategy for planning, and particular attention was devoted to the 3-storey glazed atrium space at the top of the building to ensure thermal comfort levels were acceptable.
